Very interesting find, Piotr ! Thank you very much !
=================== I wonder which is the opinion our forum's expert "boisdejustice" about technical details presented " revolutionary machines"... Do you know if the rope was connected with the "mouton" all the time when the knife was falling as is presented in the films ?
Actually a very realistic portrayal in my opinion. The rope did stay attached to the mouton in the 1792 design and there is historical correspondance from Tobias Schmidt where he dismisses criticism of his machine for some botched executions by accusing the executioners of having interfered with the rope during the execution.
The machine in the older film clips is almost perfect with the slanted mouton which was used on many of the older machines. Much better portrayal of the widow than newer films like Danton.
